Antigua Escuela de Magisterio. C./ Virgen de la Cabeza, 2, 23008 Jaén

The conference will be held at the “Antigua Escuela de Magisterio” of Jaén, a renovated building managed by the University of Jaén that currently operates as a cultural and academic reference center in the heart of the city. Located on Virgen de la Cabeza Street, this emblematic building stands out for its balanced and functional architecture, offering auditoriums, exhibition halls, and spaces perfectly equipped for high-level events. Its proximity to the main transport stations and hotels makes it a strategic location for attendees, facilitating walking access to most of Jaén’s main points of interest.

Jaén

Jaén, the capital of the province of the same name in Andalusia, is a city of great historical relevance known as the “Capital del Santo Reino”. With a population of more than 112,000 inhabitants, it lies at the foot of the Santa Catalina hill, characterized by steep streets that open into modern boulevards and fertile agricultural lands.

Its strategic location has made it the site of some of the oldest human settlements in Europe and a key location during the periods of al-Andalus and the Kingdom of Castile. Today, it is globally recognized as the “World Capital of Olive Oil”, serving as the epicenter of an industry that hosts Expoliva every two years, the most important international fair in the sector.

From a cultural perspective, the city stands out for its rich historical and artistic heritage. Its main monuments include the Asunción Cathedral, Santa Catalina Castle, the Arab Baths, and the International Museum of Iberian Art, as well as the Monument to the Battles, which commemorates historical milestones that took place in its territory.

How to get there

Jaén can be reached through different means of transportation: train, bus, and road. The train station and the bus station are located in the heart of the city, allowing visitors to reach most hotels and points of interest on foot. Unlike other capitals, Jaén does not have its own airport, so air access must be done through nearby provinces.

Plane

Jaén does not have its own airport. The closest option is Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport, located in the town of Chauchina, about 100 kilometers from the city of Jaén. This airport mainly offers domestic connections with cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, or the Canary Islands. To travel from there to Jaén, the most common option is renting a car or taking a taxi, with an approximate travel time of one hour via the A-44 highway. There is no frequent direct bus line from the terminal, so many travelers prefer using Málaga Airport, which, although located 200 kilometers away, offers a much wider variety of international flights and better car rental services.

Train

Jaén railway station is located at the end of Avenida de Madrid and is a terminal station. The journey from Madrid takes approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes, following the railway line that crosses Despeñaperros and Alcázar de San Juan. There are currently several daily connections operated by Renfe using regional trains. Ticket prices usually start around 30 euros, although they may vary depending on advance booking. The city is also directly connected with other Andalusian capitals such as Córdoba and Seville. For long-distance trips to Barcelona or the eastern coast of Spain, it is common to travel to the nearby Linares-Baeza station, which serves as a strategic railway hub in the area.

Bus

The bus is a widely used alternative due to its flexibility and central location, as the bus station is located in Plaza de la Libertad. The company ALSA operates most long-distance routes, connecting Jaén with Madrid in approximately 4 hours with fares starting around 20 euros. It is a very competitive option compared to the train in terms of both price and travel time. Additionally, the central station serves as the main hub for all routes connecting the rest of the province and other Andalusian capitals such as Granada, with connections approximately every hour, as well as Málaga and Seville with multiple daily services.

Road

Reaching Jaén by car is straightforward thanks to its excellent location as a gateway to Andalusia. From Madrid, travelers take the A-4 Southern Highway until Bailén, where it connects with the A-44 Sierra Nevada Highway, which crosses the city from north to south. This same highway connects Jaén with Granada in less than one hour. For those traveling from the west, such as Córdoba or Seville, access is mainly via the A-4, while connections with the eastern coast are structured through the A-32 highway, which links the province with Albacete. Access to the city is well signposted and allows visitors to reach the historic center within minutes from the highway.

Public Transport

If you prefer using public transport or come from more distant neighborhoods such as Bulevar or Fuentezuelas, the building is perfectly connected through the urban bus network (operated by ALSA). The lines running along Avenida de Madrid and Paseo de la Estación are the most useful, especially Line 4, Line 7, Line 11, and Line 19, which have stops very close to the venue. Standard tickets are purchased directly from the driver, and the frequency of these main lines usually ranges between 15 and 30 minutes depending on the time of day.

Accommodation

The city of Jaén offers a wide variety of accommodation options. Detailed information about recommended hotels and attendee discounts will be provided soon.
